Who was your most influential teacher and why?
Doc Rebholz because his passion and stories for finance and economics made me fall in love with the area of study. His macroeconomics class was very influential for me, and I learned so much that I found very fascinating.
What was your favorite class and why?
Macroeconomics, for the reasons I stated above. Learning the theories that can explain economic behavior was very interesting to me. Also, I liked how Doc mixed in current events and financial news, because I loved following the stock market. Finally, the Harvard Business cases at the end of the year really made us think critically and think like a professional.
What was your most memorable experience at Shipley?
Junior year prom was probably one of the best nights of my life.
What does Courage for the Deed; Grace for the Doing mean to you?
I take this motto and just give everything I set my mind to 100% effort. Because then, no matter the result, I can go home satisfied knowing I did my best.
How has Shipley encouraged you to take risks?
The teachers really engaged in the classes, which I felt incentivized students to take risks while feeling supported.
Please write a short reflection on your time at Shipley and what it meant to you.
Shipley took me in and, through care, unlocked my full potential. I felt supported at this school, which made me feel more confident to engage in class. I started to enjoy English and history subjects that I never liked before. Also, everyone here is just nice, so I became more social.
