Who was your most influential teacher and why?
I really liked Ms. Willing because her Honors Bio class was hard, yet she was super encouraging to help me succeed. She truly wanted to see me do better throughout the year, and I was able to develop a good relationship with her as the year went on. That enabled me to feel confident to ask questions and meet with her outside of class.
What was your favorite class and why?
My favorite class was Chemistry I because I had so much fun. I had a lot of my close friends in the class, and I really enjoyed the content. Because of that class, I am still debating doing something with a Chemistry major.
What was your most memorable experience at Shipley?
My most memorable experience was anything related to Shipley sports. I got to play on both varsity lacrosse and soccer since 8th grade, which helped me to gain connections to some of the upper school girls. A lot of my close friends played sports with me, too, and therefore, I was surrounded by some of my closest friends for a big part of my Shipley experience.
What does Courage for the Deed; Grace for the Doing mean to you?
Courage for the deed means having the courage to do something or try out a new thing. Grace for the doing means giving yourself grace to try something new but also giving others grace for what they are trying to do.
How has Shipley encouraged you to take risks?
Shipley is so open to people taking risks. They offer so many activities and classes to take because part of Shipley is about learning to do something you may not have done without the encouragement offered here. I got to take classes like Debate Class or Military History, which helped to expand my knowledge and give me a different perspective on new topics.

Shipley helped me to develop into a totally different person from who I was when I first came. I got to try out so many different activities and classes that I may not have done or taken. The people here taught me so many different lessons and gave me many experiences that I will always remember.
