Who was your most influential teacher and why?
One of my most influential teachers was Mr. Maurer. In addition to always looking forward to engaging discussions in his English class, I felt as if his assessments and creative writing assignments truly challenged me to become a better writer. I also really enjoyed getting to know him as a member of his advisory for three years.
What was your favorite class and why?
One of my favorite classes was definitely Honors Comparative Anatomy & Neuroscience. As someone who has always been very interested in medicine, getting to focus my studies on different areas of the human body and even perform dissections throughout the year was really exciting.
What was your most memorable experience at Shipley?
Having been at Shipley for so long, some of my experiences in the Lower School were the most memorable. Specifically, Acorns to Oaks in first grade and the third-grade Ellis Island simulation were two of the most meaningful experiences for me.
How has Shipley encouraged you to take risks?
When I first came to Shipley, I remember being generally pretty quiet. However, all throughout Lower and Middle School, Shipley constantly pushed my peers and me to speak and perform publicly, whether it be at assemblies or concerts.

Overall, I had a great experience at Shipley. Over the last 12 years, I had the opportunity to make lifelong friends while gaining a strong academic foundation that will help me pursue my interests in college. No matter who you are, Shipley is a special place; that is, I truly believe that any kind of student can fit in and succeed here.
