How and why did you get into athletics/coaching/training?

After graduating college, I worked as a field hockey and lacrosse coach while also serving as a substitute teacher. During that time, several of my most skilled players experienced injuries, and I became fascinated by the care and rehabilitation they received from the athletic trainer. Recognizing my interest, my athletic director asked, “Have you ever considered becoming an athletic trainer? I know someone you should speak with about the profession.” I took that advice, connected with the individual he recommended, and the rest is history.

What is your coaching/teaching/professional philosophy or style?

As an athletic trainer, my philosophy is centered on treating the whole person rather than focusing solely on injury or performance. I believe in evidence-based practices to guide clinical decisions and provide the highest quality of care for athletes. Injury prevention is a fundamental aspect of my approach, as I strive to help maintain long-term health and achieve their goals safely. I also recognize that emotional well-being is just as important to physical well-being, and I am committed to creating a supportive environment that promotes confidence, resilience, and overall wellness. By combining scientific knowledge with compassionate care, I aim to help athletes reach their full potential both on and off the field.
Do you have any sports heroes or inspirations? If so, who are they and why?
My sports inspiration is Pat Croce because of his vision, determination, and commitment to helping athletes succeed. His ability to turn his passion into a successful career while positively impacting countless athletes and organizations motivates me to continue to grow as an athletic trainer and make a difference in the lives of my athletes.

How would your student-athletes describe you?

My students would describe me as a compassionate, dependable, and approachable athletic trainer who genuinely cares about their health, well-being, and success. They know I am someone they can rely on during both injuries and everyday challenges, providing guidance, encouragement, and a positive attitude. Students often see me as energetic, hard-working, and always willing to go the extra mile to help them return safely to the sport they love by building strong relationships based on trust, respect, and communication.

What is your goal for every student-athlete at Shipley?

As an athletic trainer, my goal is to ensure that every student-athlete has the opportunity to participate safely, perform at their best, and develop healthy habits that extend beyond sports. I strive to provide high-quality care based on injury prevention, injury management, and overall wellness. I try to create a positive environment where they feel valued and supported. Ultimately, my goal is to help every student-athlete grow, succeed, and reach their full potential both in athletics and life.

What do you love about Shipley?

What I love about Shipley is the strong sense of community and commitment to students' success. I value the relationships built among students, staff, families, and coaches all of whom work together to support and create a supportive learning environment.
